At the beginning of the XIX century, opponents of railways argued that the steam locomotives bearing smoke would certainly lead to the collapse of civilization, destroy meadows and animals grazing on them. At the beginning of the 20th century, cinema was accused of falling morals and assured that over time it would lead to the degradation of art and culture.
In the XXI century, a similar fate befell computer games. According to public opinion, the games are addictive no worse than drugs, lead to an increase in aggressiveness, reduce the academic performance of schoolchildren and students, contribute to the growth of terrorism, are responsible for the aggravation of the political situation in the Middle East and almost guilty of reducing the Penguins population in Antarctica.
The fact that it is true from all this, that the partial is true and that frank stupidity and fiction, we will not argue – this is completely ungrateful, and most importantly – meaningless. Instead, we decided to trace the history of the conflict of the gaming industry and society, without sharing participants in the confrontation on the right and guilty.
